Soul Stirring Songs

by | Aug 5, 2022 | favorites, personal

Do you do your best work when listening to certain types of music?

When I need to get into that deep creative flow state I always turn to music that is bittersweet, harmonious, and ethereal. If I’m writing, I can’t listen to lyrics. Cinematic movie soundtracks with orchestras are amazing too. Though I take personality tests with a grain of salt, I do find it ironic that I am happiest when listening to “sad” music. (INFJ, Enneagram 1/9, Melancholy Phlegmatic, DYT 4/2) Music strikes the right chord for me when the song features cello, piano, strings, slow percussion, a hint of organ at times, and always a touch of electronic otherworldliness. I do like upbeat music too, but it just doesn’t get me to the state of mind that creativity requires for me personally.

What kind of music do you like to work to? Does your preference have any correlation to your personality?

I have made a curated Spotify playlist if you enjoy this kind of soul-stirring music as well!

I love that you have a playlist. I think it’s fascinating but surely some truth to the styles of music being more influenced by the different traits we each have.

And even though I’m not the same, great playlist! I’m loving it
